ID Logistics; a young company with an impressive record of service

Entrepreneur Eric Hémar (58 years) establishes ID Logistics in France in 2001. As a logistics service provider, the company focuses on retailers in this initial phase, selling large-size goods (home and garden furniture, home improvement businesses). One year later, in 2002, ID Logistics opens its first foreign branch in Taiwan. IDL hugely expands, both in France and abroad, with new branches in Brazil, Spain, China and Indonesia, among others. From 2008 onwards, branches follow in Poland, Russia, Argentina and Morocco.

The first large-scale takeover of a logistics business takes place in 2013; the French company CEPL, handling logistics for Sony in Tilburg, for example, passes into the hands of ID Logistics. This allows IDL to gain a foothold in the Netherlands for the very first time. The IDL Benelux division is established with its head office in Tilburg. During the short time of its existence this division manages to secure a large number of big clients with, among other things, a range of products in the deluxe consumer goods segment. IDL is increasingly concentrating on e-commerce.

The expansion to the United States follows in 2019 by taking over e-commerce specialist, Jagged Peak. IDL acquires GVT at the end of 2021 resulting in the very first inclusion of a transport specialist in its ranks. IDL strengthens its position in the US in 2022 by announcing the takeover of Kane Logistics, which will come into effect in the summer of 2022. According to founder Eric Hémar, this represents one of the most important international growth leaps forward of ID Logistics in the history of the company.
